ActionAid Thailand is looking for a committed, detail-oriented, self-starter Thai national with a high level of integrity to join our EU COVID-19 Response and Recovery Project as Communications Officer.
Location: Bangkok, Thailand (with travels to field project areas).
Responsibilities:
Communications Officer is working under ActionAid Thailand (AAT) Programme and Policy Department. A key part of the role will be to work closely with Programme team to oversee communications for campaigning, policy advocacy and visibility of the project. S/he will provide skills and knowledge in online and offline campaigning communications, generating new ideas to build an active, networked civil society to improve the delivery of and access to social security of vulnerable groups, and raise awareness on the stigmatisation of those impacted by COVID-19 in Thailand. Communications Officer will also be expected to develop relationships and work with AAT’s networks and/or partners.
Campaign and Policy

- Promote EU COVID-19 Response and Recovery Project among AAT’s partners and communities by building relationships with key stakeholders in the media, and by engagement on website and social media.
- Work with Programme team to prepare effective campaign contents, including innovative media communicating for change to the public.
- Represent AAT on the organisation’s standpoint and proposals.
- Coordinate with the related government agencies and/or partners to participate AAT’s activities.
- Coordinate and develop an implementation plan that aligns with the project strategies, objectives and expected results.
- Responsible for developing and implementing communications plans and execution of activities, campaigns and events.
- Identify, develop and maintain media partners for policy advocacy and campaigning.

Communications

- Under the guidance of EU COVID-19 Response and Recovery Project Manager, formulate and implement a Visibility & Communications Plan to promote the project work in Thailand.
- Responsible for sourcing high impact stories of change, take and edit photographs and short video clips and dispatch them to AAT’s website, social media channels, and local newspapers.
- Support Programme team in publicising EU COVID-19 Response and Recovery Project’s work through the media partners and share on AAT and the project’s website and social media channels.
- Work with Fundraising and Communication Department for updating Communications content on social media platforms (website, FB, IG, etc) on a daily basis, with alignment to the AAT Communications Guidelines and protocols.
- Coordinate with the media and develop all the press materials including press releases, fact sheets and brochures for each media event.
- Coordinate with vendors and be responsible for quality control on media and material production and publication.

- Support in developing the Visibility & Communications Plan that aligns and supports the project.
- Manage budget utilisation of the Visibility & Communications Plan.

- Develop indicators of media, policy advocacy and campaign work.
- Analyse communications inputs and public communications awareness, exposure and emerging social media channels.
- Keep track of and record media value, reach and outcomes of campaigning communications.

- Maintain an awareness of any possible crisis or risk to the organisation funding and donor relations, and develop plans that will provide for such contingencies

Qualifications and experience:
-
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relation, journalism, social science, humanity or related fields.
- At least 3 years of relevant experience in communications, public relations, campaigning and information & media.
- Experience in working in a multi-cultural working environment, preferably an INGO or social development organisation.
- Experience in building and maintaining websites and social media accounts is a plus.
- Work on own initiative with minimum supervision and to stay on task.
- Able to work under pressure with tight deadlines.
- Able to travel on project fields as per requested.
- Willingness to learn and engage.
Essential knowledge:

- Extensive knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of oral and written communications.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator (intermediate) and familiar with using social media.
- Knowledge of technical aspects involved in the production of different promotional materials.
- Knowledge and skills in video shooting and editing is a plus.
- Strong awareness of the evolving social media landscape.
